Notable among these are his roles as the General Director of the New Kasr El-Aini Teaching Hospital (2017-2019), the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cairo University Hospitals (2019-2021), and the Chief of Surgery (2021-2023). Furthermore, he is esteemed as the Founder and President of the Egyptian Association of Diabetic Foot and Limb Salvage. Dr. Ayman Quateen developed his expertise in interventional Neuroradiology throughout his career, which spans more than 10 years. Dr. Quateen has taken a special interest in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology. Dr. Quateen is well-trained in the subspecialties of interventional neuroradiology and interventional vascular radiology. Dr. Quateen specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological conditions and the use of clinical imaging to conduct vascular procedures. Dr. Quateen is also a keen educator and has published several research papers. Dr. Quateen received his MBBCh degree from Tripoli University. Prof. Clark Zeebregts is a vascular surgeon and professor of vascular surgery since 2010. During the years Prof. Zeebregts is working at the University Medical Center Groningen in Groningen, The Netherlands, he was Vice Resident Program Director, (Co)Director Cardiovascular Imaging Group Groningen, and Head of the Division of Vascular Surgery (Department of Surgery). Prof. Zeebregts served as a Board member and Secretary of the Dutch Society for Vascular Surgery, and within European Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (ESVS) and European Society for Cardiovascular and Endovascular Surgery (ESCVS) he held in several management and organizational positions. Ms. Gulnaz Tariq is the CEO of the International Interprofessional Wound Care Group (IIWCG) and a Past President of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS). Based in the UAE, Ms. Tariq is an accomplished Wound Care Consultant and formerly served as the Assistant Director of Nursing at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) in Abu Dhabi. Ms. Tariq holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN, BSc) and a Postgraduate Diploma, graduating at the top of her class with honors. In 2007, Ms. Tariq completed the prestigious International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC) at the University of Toronto, further solidifying her expertise in wound care. Ms. Tariq earned her MSc in Skin Integrity from the University of Hertfordshire (UK) in 2014. A highly regarded educator, clinician, and researcher in wound care, Ms. Tariq is recognized as a key opinion leader on both local and international platforms. In 2015, Ms. Tariq founded the Ostomy Care and Management (OCM) course, where she continues to serve as the course director. Ms. Tariq has co-authored the fifth edition of the textbook Chronic Wound Care and published over 25 papers in the field. Ms. Tariq has made significant contributions to advancing wound care practices, including introducing diabetic foot and pressure injury prevention programs across SEHA (Abu Dhabi Health Services Company). Dr. Hani Sabbour, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Heart and Vascular Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Sabbour graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Basic Medical Sciences and another in Medicine and Surgery from Kuwait University Faculty of Medicine in 1994 with first class honors. Dr. Sabbour was also twice-awarded His Highness the Emirs Gold Medal for academic excellence in both degrees. Dr. Sabbour subsequently went on to train in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease at SUNY Stony Brook in New York and was elected both Resident and Fellow of the Year several times. Dr. Sabbour then completed his training in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and was appointed Clinical Instructor in Cardiology at Harvard Medical School in 2001, as well as at SUNY Stony Brook. Dr. Houssam Younes, MD, is the Chairman of the Department of Vascular Surgery in the Heart & Vascular Institute at Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi. Dr. Younes is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Younes worked as a vascular surgeon and an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, USA. During his tenure, Dr. Younes treated a wide spectrum of complex vascular diseases, utilizing new minimally invasive endovascular surgery technologies including image-guided and catheter-based therapies, and traditional open surgery techniques. Dr. Younes also served as a teaching faculty at the medical school and the general and vascular surgery residency programs. Dr. Younes received his medical degree from Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty in Istanbul, Turkey. Dr. Ibrahim Riza is a highly-experienced consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon who completed his surgical and vascular surgical training in the UK, at centers of excellence such as the Royal Liverpool University and the South Manchester University hospitals. Prior to joining Mediclinic, Dr. Riza worked in UK’s NHS, where he was the clinical director of Vascular Services at the Pennine Acute Hospitals in Greater Manchester, in the tertiary vascular unit, where Dr. Riza led the development and merger of vascular services in Greater Manchester, including the commissioning of a state-of-the-art Hybrid OR. Dr. Shagran Binkhamis has obtained his Medical Degree from King Saud University in 2003. This was followed by Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at McGill University in Montreal, Canada from 2005-2010 and Fellowship training in Musculoskeletal, Adult and Pediatric Vascular & Interventional Radiology at the Universities of Ottawa and Toronto, Canada from 2010-2012. Dr. Binkhamis has been a Consultant Radiologist since 2012. Since his return in late 2012, Dr. Binkhamis was appointed as the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program Director at King Saud University Medical City in Riyadh as well as the division head of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Sulaiman Al Shamsi was working at Royal hospital in Muscat, Oman as a senior consultant vascular and Endovascular surgeon since January 2012. Dr. Al Shamsi then became the head of the department of General Surgery from August 2017 until March 2020. Dr. Al Shamsi graduated from the medical school of Sultan Qaboos University in 1996, followed by one year of internships between Royal Hospital and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital. Dr. Al Shamsi then entered the local residency program, collaborating with Royal Collage of Surgeon of Edinburgh and obtained the MRC Ed in 2004. Dr. Al Shamsi worked in the departments of General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Trauma Surgery, ICU, Anesthesia and Pediatric Surgery during his residency program. When he finished his residency, Dr. Al Shamsi later applied for Vascular residency in France where he started at Poitiers University under the supervision of Prof J-P Ricco. Dr. Al Shamsi then moved back to Oman and started as a Vascular Surgeon up until March 2020. Dr. Al Shamsi was a member of education committee, Oman medical specialty board (OMSB), member of curriculum subcommittee, exam subcommittee, member of scholarship in OMSB and member in higher national scholarship committee until March 2020. Dr. Al Shamsi was the overall coordinator of juniors and senior’s medical students and the affiliated tutor for teaching and examination in Sultan Qaboos university. Dr. Al Shamsi joined Al Ain hospital on May 2020 as Consultant Vascular Surgeon until September 2020, when the vascular service moved to TAWAM Hospital. I am a European Board-certified Vascular Surgeon with over 12 years of experience practicing in Europe before relocating to the Middle East over eight years ago. In Saudi Arabia, at King Saud Medical City (KSMC), I spearheaded the development and implementation of endovascular and hybrid treatments for Aortic Diseases, Critical Limb Ischemia, and Vascular Trauma. Additionally, I proudly served as the Program Training Director of the Vascular Surgery Fellowship for more than two years, shaping the next generation of vascular surgeons. In 2023, I embraced a new challenge at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) - Mayo Clinic, driven by the goal to establish a Centre of Excellence in Vascular Surgery within the UAE. Viswanathan Diabetes Research Centre, in Royapuram, Chennai, which is a WHO Collaborating Centre for research, education and training in Diabetes.
